Meet Baby Eva

A few weeks ago I made another trip up to the Bay Area to photograph a beautiful baby girl.  She was just 10 days old when we met but she was the perfect little model.  Her mom and I had lots of fun dressing her up and just playing.

Eva is the second daughter to one of my best and oldest friends (33 years of friendship).  So this was extra special.  Not to mention Eva's big sis is my God daughter.

It was a whirlwind weekend but so much fun!  I cannot wait to watch both of them grow up to be beautiful and successful young women.

Here are a few from our lovely day of play:

Hello Universe...what are you trying to tell me??

OK so remember the post I did only a few days ago about Fish in Space?  You know the one about how we got a fish because I wasn't ready for a new kitty quite yet?  Well when I got home from work it seems a stray kitty has adopted my backyard as her new home.  She is very cute and very sweet,  loving and playful.  I think she was probably abandoned by someone who lost their home and could not take her with them where ever they were landing.

Meet the kitty who has claimed our yard as her own:

I am not really sure what the universe is doing to me.  I have a huge heart when it comes to animals and this one is tugging at it BIG TIME.  Every time we open our back door she comes running.  When we close the door she goes under the rose bushes and curls up in a little ball and sleeps.  It doesn't help that I can see her all tucked in from my kitchen window either.

Of course my son is already in love with her and has asked his dad if we "can keep the kitty?"

She has no collar, but it is clear she was or is someone's pet.  I am torn.  I took pics so I could put up some posters for her around the neighborhood. (and of course to show you the irony of my Friday posts)

Of course I made the horrible mistake, if you don't want a  kitty to stay that is, and fed her.  But she was starving the poor little girl.

You know I always thought when we got our next kitty it would be a kitten and still lean that way, but I am not sure what to make of our current situation.

This is what she does when you start to pet her:

She rolls over and just purrs and needs her little paws.  She is working it hard!!

I did find out she has also been moonlighting in my neighbors yard for some milk.  LOL  So I think she has it pretty good right now.  I do worry though because we live in an area that has a lot of coyotes and would hate for her to be caught by one of them.  She is safe in our yard but if she ventures out, especially at night, she is fair game.

I am still not sure what our decision will be, but for now we are in a wait and see phase.  I may take her to the vet and see if she has a chip and get her checked out to make sure she is ok.  Or maybe call humane society and see if she can be adopted....who knows.  But how truly ironic that Fridays post was about not being ready for a kitty and then to arrive home after work and one in our back yard is pretty crazy.

Oh and she is a hunter so I am afraid that she may have gotten my scaly friend.  I have not seen him all weekend.  :(

If you know anyone that is looking for a wonderful, playful, loving little kitty let me know.  :(

How can you resist that face?

A scaly visitor...

Clearly living in Southern California it is almost always warm out, or at least 65.  But I live a little inland and closer to the moutains so our weather has more of an extreme.  Freakin super hot in summer and can get cold at night and colder in winter.  Not more rain or anything, we are not talking crazy different, just slightly different microclimate.

The past few weekends we have been doing a lot of yard work and play.  It seems every day we have a  little visitor who just hangs out some where in the yard.  He even works out and does push-ups while he watches us.  (My favorite part by the way).

Meet our Lizard friend:

Lizzard 1

He doesn't have a name yet, but we know he doesn't like broccoli.  My son left him a piece and it wilted and dried up in the sun cuz lizard dude was having none of it.

On this particular day he let me get closer to him than ever before...so of course I grabbed my camera.

Lizzard 2

No time to get any special lenses, just me and my 24-70mm and I was brave enough to try it on manual.

Getting closer...

Lizzard 3

ok so now I am pushing my limits I am about 3 feet away from him.  On my elbows on the cement step he is on.  But he just chilled and posed for me.

Lizzard 4

He was just soaking up some rays and I was clicking away...

Lizzard 5

Then my son decided to run up and freaked him out and he was gone, but he will be back.

Maybe not for the broccoli, but I think he likes having his portrait taken.  Maybe next time I can get him doing puch-ups.

Take care!!

Fish in Space

So my son has been wanting a pet for a while now.  If he had his choice it would be a kitty.  I am a HUGE kitty lover and would be all for it, but my best girl kitty friend (Chicken) passed away 3 years ago after 14 years together.  I am still not ready to get another... yet.  She was the best cat in the whole world.  She was loving and had such personality and was my very first photography model...and loved it.  :)

So we compromised, I guess.  He got a fish.

Meet Dory:

BLOG 1

Dory is our Male Beta fish.  He is so sweet.  He even watches Transformers with my son.  His tank is right next to the TV in my son's room and when my son watches his shows Dory always goes to that side of the tank to hang out.

So Dory is a fish in space.  We have this super cool tank that looks like he is floating in space.  It even has a little space ship top.  My son thinks it is so cool, but I think Mama and Papa thought it was cooler.  LOL  We are geeks.

Blog 1a

We feed him together every morning.  And he is always excited to see us and eat his fish balls.  LOL

So it is not a cat that you can cuddle and sleep with, but it will have to do for now.  I find myself talking to him when ever I am in my sons room. And we say good morning to him everyday and good night to him every night.  He is such a  great little fish.  So handsome too.

Blog 2

One day we will get a kitty and that will probably be Dory's least favorite day.  LOL

Have an excellent weekend.

I have one more non-human friend at our house to tell you about...stay tuned.  :)

It is baby season...

I had the opportunity to do a maternity and newborn session in the same day right after each other.  Two different families, but it was extra special to get to photograph both in the same day.

Here are some of my favorites from the maternity session:

Love that last shot.

Then I drove on down the freeway to meet Jack.  I had previously photographed him when his mommy was still pregnant (click here).  He was finally here and it was time for him to strut his stuff.

At first all he wanted was food and I was getting in his way.  So after many feedings and changing he fell asleep and we moved in for our close ups.

Catching up...3 in 1

I feel as though I have been on a  speed train.  I have so much to talk about and have not been able to do it yet.  So let's play catch up on some photo sessions I have done.

A few weeks back I flew up to Nor Cal to meet with 3 different families to do a  whirlwind weekend of photo sessions.

It was crazy but a lot of fun.  I got to spend time with my girl friends and drink some wine and also see my God daughter (who will be a big sister in T minus 6 days) and her mama for a night.  So much fun!!

I started off with Baby Dax (3 months).  It was a bit crazy and we kinda ran out fo time but his smile will suck you in and not let you go.  He is just such a  happy little guy you cannot help but smile when you are with him.

Then it was off to Heather Farms Park in Walnut Creek for some family shots.  I met Lindsay, her husband and their daughter Leila and we just walked around to find all the cool spots.  Then we played at the playground.  There are fabulous playgrounds, ducks all over (watch where you step), and a gorgeous rose garden.

After two shoots back to back I was ready for some down time.  Some girlfriends came out and we all went back to Amiee's house for some wine and chit chat.  It was just lovely.

Sunday it was back to work.

I met Julie and her family back at Heather Farms.  They were so much fun.  We were in the zone.

Then it was back to the airport and back down to San Diego.  Whoa, what a weekend.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Happy Mother's Day to all Mamas, Moms, Mums,  Grandmoms, Great-Grandmoms and moms to be.  Being a mother is the best thing in the world.  This morning I woke up and my son (and husband) made me breakfast and gave me flowers and an awesome card.  The kind you can record your own message.  It was very sweet.  Here are some pictures from our morning.

Jack is on his way...

On Saturday I had the fabulous opportunity to take some wonderful photographs of Desiree a lil more than  a week (9 days)  before her little man is due to arrive. Desiree and Brian are a lot of fun and I cannot wait to meet Jack in a  few more weeks.  Desiree looks absolutely fabulous.  Here are some of my favorite shots.

Golfing...

OK so I know I promised adventure pictures, but I forgot to bring my camera on the adventure.  :(  Our adventure was cut short anyway, so next time I promise.

But instead I have golfing pictures.

My husband (Aaron) and son (James) were in the backyard yesterday practicing their golf techniques.  My son has two clubs, putter and wedge, and he loves to practice with his papa.  My son even tries to teach me what he learns. It is very cute. His technique has its flaws, he is only 3 ya know...not quite Tiger Woods yet.  Some day.... Soooo on to the pics...

They worked on his grip:

and on just swinging the club:

I think James had the most fun when Aaron played a teaching game with him, where James was to mimic what Aaron was doing.  It was very cute.

So cute!  Then it was time to just swing on his own.

Playing at the Park

Presidio Park has fast become one of my favorite places to photography toddlers.  There are places to run, explore and just have fun.    Which is exactly what we did last Saturday.

Last Saturday I met Henry and his mommy and auntie at Presidio Park.  At first Henry was a little bit shy but as soon as I brought out the ball he was ready to go.  And Go he did.  I do not think Henry stopped running for a full hour.  He was having so much fun and so were we.

He found flowers, bushes and sticks.  We even saw some squirrels and bunnies.  The squirrels were not impressed with us at all and allowed us to walk up to about 2 feet away. Little did they know we had a toddler on our hands who wanted to squish them.  LOL  Luckily for them by the time we saw them he was pretty tired.

He is so cute and so much fun.  I loved his eye lashes...

Here is one of him upside down and having fun!!

Walkingaway

The best part of my job is getting to play for an hour with all these wonderful little kids.  Despite all the grass stains, muddy bums, and sweat, I have just as much fun as the kids.  :)

The weather is so beautiful here in San Diego my son and I are going to go on an adventure...better bring the camera.  Stay tuned!!

Have a great weekend.
